ECREA-CLP Workshop 2009 The 2009 workshop of the European Communication Research and Education Association's (ECREA) "Communication Law and Policy" section takes place in Zurich, Switzerland, on November 6-7, 2009. The workshop is hosted and jointly organized by the divisions "Media & Politics" and "Media Change & Innovation" of the University of Zurich's Institute of Mass Communication and Media Research (IPMZ). Theme The theme of the workshop is "New Directions for Communication Policy Research". The state of the art of communication policy research is well documented, but where do we go from here? How do we theoretically and methodologically approach new policy issues? What policy challenges are emerging and what insights can we gain from the application of theories and methods of cognate areas? The workshop focuses on new theories, new methods, new subjects as well as new regulatory structures and instruments. It is our aim to stimulate reflection and discussion. Thus, the sessions will leave room for discussion and exchange. Program The workshop begins on Friday, November 6, 15:45, and ends on Saturday, November 7, 17:45. Please also consider to attend the 10th anniversary celebration of SwissGIS (Swiss Centre for Studies on the Global Information Society) which takes place on Friday right before our workshop starts (from 09:00 to 15:15). The subject is "SwissGIS 10 Years After: The Future of the Global Information Society"; Robin Mansell (LSE) and Jan van Dijk (University of Twente) are the keynote speakers. Papers The majority of papers is now available for download (link opens in a new window or tab). Each file name contains two numbers and the name of the author, e.g. 02_03_miller.pdf (session 2, paper 3, author miller). More papers will be available as soon as we receive them. Access to papers is limited to workshop participants (who were given a password). |
